Thimbleweed has unusual star flowers that emerge from a mound of hand-shaped leaves. The petals surround a seed head that looks like a thimble, which gives it the name Thimbleweed. It’s a pretty flower and a good addition to short gardens.

Design Tips

Thimbleweed grows fairly short and looks nice planted with other flowers such as Butterfly Milkweed and Prairie Phlox. The foliage of Thimbleweed (Anemone cylindrica) is different than most plants and provides a nice change of pace.
