Prairie/Wood Lily (Lilium philadelphicum) 3-pack of bulbs
Can be shipped. (Note: we will no longer be shipping Prairie Lily pots in spring; these fall bulbs are the only way to have them shipped!)
What are dormant bulbs? These 1/2” or larger bulbs will be ready for shipping or pickup in October after the Prairie Lilies have gone dormant. We pack the bare root bulbs in bags of clean potting soil. These should be planted immediately after receiving them, but the bags of bulbs can also be stored in a refrigerator until being planted in March although it’s not our recommended option (they should be checked weekly starting in February because they might start re-sprouting in the fridge). DO NOT store in a warm room, in the freezer, or in freezing above-ground temperatures such as a garage.
Prairie Lily is a classic lily of woodland edges and remnant prairies. It’s also known as Wood Lily. Prairie Lily is short and humble with only a few flower stems, but it stands out among other native plants with its traditional lily flowers. It is popular with rabbits and deer, so make sure to keep it protected. Prairie Lily takes 2-4 years to bloom from seed—most of the lilies we sell are 2-3 year old plants but they probably won’t bloom until the following year or two.
