Michigan Lily (Lilium michiganense) 3-pack of pots

Hummingbirds are attracted to the bright orange-red blooms on this native lily. Lily lovers and native plant lovers both enjoy these classic garden flowers. Once common to wet meadows across the Midwest, Michigan Lily (also known as Turks Cap Lily) is now rare. Our plants are started in the greenhouse from seed and transplanted into our production fields—never dug from the wild. Then we let them mature in the field for a couple of years before the bulbs are big enough to sell. It takes 4-5 years to bloom but the Michigan Lily we have for sale is very large 2-3 year old plants.

If you are looking to buy Michigan Lily online, these are some of the best. Most of the bulbs are big enough to put out a thick stem the first year and possibly flowers the next. Michigan Lily likes consistent moisture and mulch.

Michigan Lily needs rich, moist soil in order to thrive. Plant in sunny gardens with a layer of mulch and regular water. There are organic deer-repellent sprays that seem to work if applied consistently every 2 weeks. Michigan Lily sometimes goes dormant during summer dry periods.
